Really awful to hear about this and even more awful to hear Romney laugh and call it a “prank”. Pinning a kid down who you think is gay and cutting his hair off is not a PRANK it’s fucking BULLYING, HARASSMENT, and HOMOPHOBIA.

File under: reasons why “It Gets Better” is a motto that applies largely to white people. Queer feminine men & trans women of color not only experience the heterosexist and cissexist violence from society, but also racist violence. And so when we find the femme-friendly groups that you’d think would be good for us, we’re disappointed when we find that there’s rampant racism and a lack of acceptance of us and our problems.
So for that reason, I fucking cosign with the bolded emphasis I placed above.
Yeah, it’s definitely worse for black men, men of color etc who are feminine and gay.
At the half way house I was at, I had to do the buddy system with one of the guys there because of this shit, but the white guy who was also extremely feminine didn’t have any fuckin’ problem.
So yeah, it gets better campaign is and will always be, in my book, bullshit because it’s not meant for everyone. middle to upper class white people, only.
